Elsa is shocked and miserable when her husband Morgan announces he wants to move to a zendo many miles from the house they recently bought and which she loves. Her passion for weaving doesn’t compensate for his loss, but his best friend Jerome, a political activist, tries. Elsa is not immune to Jerome’s charms, but she also wants to get to the truth of her own life.
Since her childhood on a Midwestern farm, Elsa has moved to a cosmopolitan city where everyone lives as if on stage and everything one does is a political act. Faced with domestic crisis, Elsa must go deep into her own certainties as she negotiates this shifting world. Magic is often afoot, however, and friendships deepen. One foot firmly rooted, Elsa explores a shining world with the other.
